![]() In the fifties, Danish artists Asger Jorn and P.V. Glob were already playing with the idea of creating a magnificent literary work on images from the past. Our cultural inheritance includes a large number of beautiful motifs; however, we seem to disdain them somewhat compared to Greek sculptures or Italian frescos from the same period. The corporation was never initiated as the Danish National Museum demanded an academic rather than an artistic approach to the subject. Jorn continued at his own expense and photographed thousands of relics of ancient culture on his journeys in the Nordic Region with the French photographer Gerard Francheschi. He planned 28 volumes containing various themes from 10,000 years’ of Nordic folk art. For financial reasons, the project, however, failed after a sample volume on the stone sculptures of Scania, Sweden. Of a more recent date, Silkeborg Art Museum has succeeded in publishing seven of the planned volumes where the images have been prepared by Jorn himself, but the text has been written by researchers of our time. Asger Jorn’s idea to communicate the images of the past has inspired us to create cult stones that are based on a true story which also communicates our cultural inheritance. Hopefully, the new owner of the stone will experience our historical inheritance along with its images in a new way.
