Storhøj near Vinding was already examined in 1875.
The mound has been used as a grave mound for 1550 years since as from the earliest period of the Neolithic period to the end of the Iron Age were found in it (i.e. from AD 2350 to AD 800).
This picture stone is the first one of the kerbstones in the grave complex. In 1876, C. Engelhardt from the Danish National Museum, who was in charge of the examination noticed that “The figure is vaguely rubbed in and seems to portray a ship bearing sail”.
Later on, however, the signs are thought to have been carved in various periods as the upper lines seem to be made by means of metal tools and the ship with the circle sign has been pecked by means of a Bronze Age method.
